📊 Predicted Adult Weight
— lbs

📖 How to use this tool

  • 1️⃣ Select your dog’s breed (or “Mixed” for unknown lineage).
  • 2️⃣ Enter current weight (lbs) and age in months.
  • 3️⃣ (Optional) add a Model Year for personal reference.
  • 4️⃣ Click “Update prediction” → view adult weight, size class, and growth graph.
  • ✅ Graph shows expected weight curve from 0 to 24 months based on your dog’s unique data.
💡 Expert tip: Weigh your puppy every 2 weeks for accuracy. For large/giant breeds, growth plates close later — adjust nutrition accordingly. Always consult vet for personalized feeding plans.

🌎 Size Classification & Factors (USA / Global)

🐕 Toy: ≤10 lbs 🐩 Small: 11-22 lbs 📏 Medium: 23-57 lbs 🐕‍🦺 Large: 58-99 lbs 🦍 Giant: 100+ lbs

Breed growth curve – Toy breeds reach maturity faster (≈10 months); Giant breeds continue up to 24+ months. Our advanced algorithm uses size-tier growth percentiles and adjusts final weight based on current weight/age ratio.

✅ Based on American Kennel Club (AKC) and FCI world standards. Mixed breeds calculated using medium size curve & probabilistic adult range.

🧠 Expert short tips (science-backed)

  • Puppy growth monitoring: sudden weight deviations may signal health changes — track monthly.
  • Neutering influence: may slightly increase adult weight; our calculator gives baseline genetic potential.
  • Body condition score (BCS) matters more than raw weight: ribs easily felt = ideal.
  • Large breeds: slow growth with large-breed puppy food reduces joint issues.
  • Mixed breeds: use DNA tests for better accuracy; our predictor uses weighted growth modelling.

❓ Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How accurate is predicted adult weight?

Our calculator uses breed-specific adult ranges and dynamic growth factors. Accuracy is highest between 8 weeks and 12 months. For mixed breeds, results reflect probabilistic median.

Why does Model Year matter?

Model year is a custom reference (e.g., birth year, registration cohort). It does not affect prediction but helps you track multiple dogs.

Can I use kg instead of lbs?

Current version uses lbs (standard US & global metric conversion: 1kg = 2.205lbs). You can manually convert kg to lbs.

What about giant breeds like Mastiffs?

Our Giant category (Great Dane base) applies similar extended growth to 24 months. Adult weight up to 180 lbs typical.
